DITY (Do IT Yourself) move...

anyone know anything about this?

i've never done a home of record move before, or a DITY move before... anyway, i'm taking leave enroute to my next duty station and i'd like to rent a U-HAUL truck and drive it out to my next base will all my stuff from "home" in it.

how do i go about setting this up? anyone done this before?

Its not a bad process, they'll have a class that you go to that will explain everything. The paperwork isn't bad, weighing the truck can be a pain if there isn't a place to weigh it nearby.

well, i talked to TMO on Spangdahlem and they just told me that i'd have to talk with TMO at Nellis when i get there... that defeats the whole idea for me.

i'll be in StL, on leave... and i'll be driving out the Nellis no matter what... so i might as well drive a UHAUL truck out there with all my stuff in it. i'm gonna call Nellis TMO and see what they have to say.
