so i'm driving the fox last night... at first, no problems. after i had been driving the car for about 30 mins, i started to notice a rubbing noise out back. well, we just rolled the fenders and i was pretty sure it was not my tires rubbing.

well, today on my way to work, all was good... and after i had been driving the car for a few mins, it started with that noise again. this time i noticed that if i took my foot off the gas, the noise stops... as soon as i reapply my foot, it starts again.

whats the problem??? :(

Sounds like a drive line issue.

I seem to be having the same problem, but it seems to be coming from my drivers rear wheel area. I changed the rotors and pads...ever since it makes this occasional grinding/rubbing noise. Mostly happens if I am creeping in traffic...doesn't always do it...comes and goes. It either happens when I'm breaking or accelerating...any ideas?

I had a rattling noise coming from the rear of my Mach last March and thought it was a bad crush sleeve or pinion bearing...it ended up just being a loose u-bolt inboard of the driver's rear wheel.

The bearings are covered under your warranty...I just had mine replaced about 2 months ago, they can't be out again

I can tell you how to change the inner and outer axle bearings, but the pinion bearing will need to be pressed on. If you have the facility and tools you can do the axle bearings yourself. Probably under 100. for everything. You will have to change out the fluid when you do it.LMK

You will need 2. I think you might have bigger problems so I don't know if its even worth it.

You can start with these 2 bearing but it might not fix it. Can you put it up on jacks and run it in one of the gears and try to listen to see if the noise is coming from the center or by the wheels. The problem could be mutiple things.

Can you take it to the base hobby shop?

yeah, i certainly can.

edit: so put it on a lift and raise a little and then start the car, and press the gas and listen?

yeah you don't even need to put it on a lift just put some jack stands on the axle and leave the front on the ground. It would probably be more stable this way.
When mine went bad I could hear a humming or whine coming from the left side so I knew which one it was. I replaced both of them.

Hopefully this is the problem. It will save a bunch of money and time if it is.

is it a rubbing... a grinding... or a whine.....
